"Don't Say No"

As much as seems like I hate "Don't Say No" (refer to my Tumblr for reactions to the episodes) I'll still give y'all my constructive review on it (I'll try).

Let's start with the biggest problem: acting

The acting was not good at all, mainly Ja. There's a lot to be desired, from the crying scenes to the angry ones. I have never seen any of these actors so I can tell y'all I have no bias when it comes to criticizing their acting. Unlike Earth, whom I saw on Waterboyy, which left a bad taste on me, so I was a little worried about the Thousand Stars series. But in this case, man, these actors were all over the place with their portrayal. You can say "WELL YOU GO AHEAD AND ACT IT", mmm I am not an actor so I have no obligation whatsoever to learn how to express emotions in front of a camera... However, they should be getting enough time to rehearse and get on their characters. So, Ja needs a lot of work, most of his scenes felt like it was dragging us because of how dull he was, and it shows [refer to the image below]. Fiat's friends were also awkwardly acting... folding arms and moving arms like they did not know what to do with them. I mean, beginners, but that is why we need to do this type of thing. Without criticizing, there's no growth. First was okay, I mean in terms of acting he did better, you have to work with what you get so. Smart was very charismatic and charming, some scenes were a little awkward though. James, wow! he impressed me, you can tell some scenes he felt a little uncomfortable, HOWEVER, he did better than all of the other actors. Congrats!.

Script:

There's a lot of the wrong in here. I won't point them out (in detail) because everybody agrees on those points from what I have read. My biggest problem was how they wanted to throw all these problems in just one series of 12 eps and everything is resolved 10 minutes later. I hate to be the one to tell you, but that's not how real-life problems work... and the fact that Mame keeps throwing all these mental health issues left and right and presents people in a dark light, let me catch a break and bat. In any case, there's more I hated about the script. I have a whole different post on BLs and Women, which I will be posting later on here. I don't know yet. But the portrayal was not right.

Harassment, blackmailing, stuff that happens in real life yes, but how do we solve them in order to help others understand why is wrong???? BLAMING WOMEN AND JUST ALLOWING MEN TO CRY ABOUT IT??? MMM, I don't know what kind of life y’all living in, but this ain't it. in summary, the script was all over the place, it felt like 3 seasons of one series into a movie.

Some of the things I liked about the script are the side couple and how good it was written (I mean good as in it could be way better. but it is good). Even the ending was kinda surprising but pleasant. The problem with the script relies on the issues that were all used as a sideway for Leo and Fiat to make love afterward...

The only issue that did like was Fiat's father, I knew right from the beginning he was a good man. I knew something was off, but he did not know how to handle it. However, the biggest issue with the script relies on how the mother's mental health issue was presented and handled.

Overall feeling:

I did not know this bl was part of the TharnType universe, and it did feel like it was part of it (not in a good way). It feels like a remake of a film that was a hit and now this new take is trying to capture what made the first film a hit... without acknowledging the weak points from the original and not changing those points. It was a direct remake, as they said "The lion king remake is the lion king original with CGI characters". So after all of this, it was not a top series. When I thought it was going to get better, it got worse to the point I had to watch on a 1.5 speed.

"Don't say no" is a remake of the same tropes in every bl series, with cute actors, crappy acting, a dull script, and a perfect secondary couple. Rewatch value: 7. Disappointment.

Ok. This will be 4th attempt at leaving a message here. Your critique was spot on. I believe that I had mentioned to you a scene that made me stop watching was how the glossed over the fact that First was blackmailed aka raped by a former lover. He sheepishly goes along with it. Ja finds out and has ZERO feelings/response. And, then, the series just goes along as if NOTHING happened. None of it made any sense. The acting was ALL OVER THE PLACE. When you think of all of the rehearsals; money spent; promotions etc etc. And, this is the best that they could come up with? Mame should never be allowed to write another damn show. I love…

wait, did you have a problem posting???

OMG PERIOD. Exactly, great minds think alike. Honestly, I really just hate how they don't learn... Like didn't the critism from the others series affect you or what? The acting was honestly, not it. Anyways Lovely Writer is at the top for real and Bad Buddy is taking the crown for one of the best bls of this year, yes.
