Expressing my worries...

Hi everyone!

I have been out for a couple of weeks now and, well, I am really busy with a lot of things (obvs). but I have been watching some of the bls out there and... I don't have anything new to put out so I thought, maybe, just maybe, I would be able to express some of my worries.

FYI: all these memes are the face or emotions I have writing a paragraph.

As I have been discussing with somebody else, a dear follower, there is this progression with bls, and then you have the masses who push back. After Bad Buddy, Lovely Writer, and even Manner of Death, I was hoping for bls that were better written, acted, directed, and everything else. Instead, we keep getting all these bls that are just so 2015s, which is bad because 2015-2018 was not a good era for bls, in fact, I would say there are more fetishes in those than in any other era. After 2019, you have more bls that are open about representing a more diverse, unique story. And then you also get the ones that are, "progressive" with a toxic trait that could get you killed on Twitter if you spoke against it. So, for this post, I just want to talk about this.

At the same time, if we go through some of the bls that have come out after 2019, a lot of them have toxic relationships BUT ALSO, apologize, talk to each other, don't force shit on the others, and most importantly, no rape scenes. For a Dark Blue Kiss, we got a TharnType, for a History 3 we got a Theory of Love, etc. But these are not as bad as before 2019 bls. Dark Blue kiss had a very toxic relationship, however, nobody was forced into forgiveness, in fact, you had to work your way to forgiveness baby boy. Then, Tharntype has the infamous opening, a toxic relationship, and a toxic friendship too. History3 has the mafia, while Theory of Love has a toxic relationship with a man who wanted forgiveness and was willing to make his loved one confess by making him feel jealous. out of these, we all know which one is the one that will get canceled the fastest, however, that is not what I am here for. I am here, one, because I do not know what to write about, two, because I really want to get this off of my chest.

Then, in 2020 we got a lot of Cookie Butter shows. Shows that were a little too basic, by basic I don't mean bad, I mean, nothing too out there and nothing too risky. We got "2gether", "Ben x Jim", "Cherry Magic", "Color Rush", "Gen Y", "Mr.Heart", "My Engineer", "Oxygen", "My gear and your gown", "Tonhon Chonlatee", "Where your eyes linger", "Why R U", "Wish You", and we got the pandemic shows such as "Game boys", "Hello stranger". Of all of these shows, the groundbreaking shows are probably "Manner of Death" and "Like in the Movies"... For Manner of Death, you got, nothing, because Manner of Death standout as the only risky bl that didn't feel like a bl because of how natural it is. For every "Like in the Movies" you got "Tonhon Chonlatee", and for every -we are gay and we can prove it but we won't kiss KISS- alas "Cherry Magic", "2gether", you got -we can kiss but our story is kinda shitty, kinda boring, kinda too basic- alas most of the shows here. Although "Where your eyes linger" is actually groundbreaking in a few aspects, there is no lying in there. But not, "yeah we are brothers, and what?" or "Okay I raped him, and so what". Instead, we got a homophobic dude who, you know what, that series is so bad I can't even devote my time to it anymore.

Then we get to 2021, a groundbreaking year for bls. We got "A tale of Thousand Stars", "Don't say no", "Light on me", "Lovely Writer", "To my Star", "You make me Dance", "The Tasty Florida", "We best Love", "See you after Quarantine?", "Paint with Love", "not Me", "My Sweet Dear", "Hello Stranger: The Movie", "Behind Cut", "Fish Upon the Sky", "Kieta Hatsukoi", and many others that I probably did not watch. But for 2021 we saw this "progress", kinda. We got legends such as "Bad Buddy", "Lovely writer" and "Not Me" and then we got the lazy writers which are every single bl by South Korea without including "To my Star" and "Light on me". So now, "what's your point", well, my point is, we are progressing in the BL world, but at the same time, we are progressing with shows dressed as sheep who are actually wolves. LOL. What I mean is, some bls nowadays are sneaking in the toxic shits such as incest, rape, blackmailing, they are going soft with it but still, romanticizing this shit. And you can argue with me, "bro, you want shows with a boring storyline?" no, actually I am fine with blackmailing as long as is not shown as "y'all this is the solution for my problems and I did not face any type of consequences". "Bro, we can differentiate between fiction and reality", okay then would it be so hard for you to not see this type of storyline presented as "the normal" thing to do?. As part of the LGBTQI+ community, this doesn't reflect well on us, if you guys have seen, there is an article going around regarding "Heartstopper" and Thai BLS, imagine now if the bl recommended was "TharnType"... #Canceled. How is rape romantic? how is incest romantic? why are bottoms represented as the childish feminine guy? why are tops always toxic controlling others' lives? homophobia...? really? like honestly... why is all this normal in bls?

After "Bad Buddy" and "Lovely Writer", "Manner of Death" and "Not Me", I don't wanna see all these shitty bls that are just the same of the same, rape, incest, toxic masculinity, homophobia as a joke, stereotypes everywhere. So my biggest worried is that bl fans continue supporting all of these new shows that are doing exactly the same thing. Sneaking in rape as a normal thing that just happened. Toxic masculinity as "Oh my god, he loves him so much that he won't allow him to breathe if he doesn't ask for permission". Incest as "they have lived with each other for so long now that they have more than a brotherly love, even if their mother adopted them or they are related, wow nothing can stop love, love is love". Homophobia as "wow he is just so masculine and hates gay man so much that he ended up liking a man and fucking him, that tells you that if somebody shows "hates" towards you they can still change because of love" or "Oh my god he pushed him down the stairs ugh he would end up loving him!!" kiss my ass, my homophobic oppressors are probably out there physically abusing other people, god damn it. "I know a guy who was homophobic and ended up being gay", oh okay, did he end up with the guy he made his life a living hell? because I am sure that guy ended up going to therapy or dead.

As you can see, I am all good with some of these tropes, I mean, what would the story be about? We need the spicy, we need the drama, we need the x-factor. But what we don't need is the rape factor, the fetish factor. So, what are we gonna do about it? I don't know, just stop supporting them. If they are part of the story and it is not romanticized but rather something they work on to solve, that is a 10/10, if the guys are toxic and still expect to be forgiven without even blinking, then maybe we need to stop.
